CHAPMANVILLE – The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of wins on Tuesday in the team’s home opener.

The Lady Tigers beat Sherman, 26-24, 26-24, then downed Burch, 25-18, 25-19 to take the tri-match.

Chapmanville, coached by first-year mentor Angie Willis, opened the season on Sept. 3 with a pair of wins against county rivals Logan and Man at the Logan County Tri-Match at LHS.

“I’m really happy and it’s a good start to the season,” said Willis, the mother to former Chapmanville athletes Kara and Cortney Willis. “They are playing good in spurts and it’s coming along well. We’re changing our rotation and we have to adapt but we’re playing well as a team.”

Charnetta Adams led the Lady Tigers in aces.

Jenna Vance had five kills in each match to lead Chapmanville at the net.

Chapmanville returns to action tonight at 6 p.m. at Point Pleasant in the Cardinal Conference opener.

The Lady Tigers then play at Herbert Hoover on Sept. 17 before returning home on Sept. 21 to face Tolsia and Williamson.

Logan High School’s volleyball team played at Lincoln County on Tuesday but no score or statistics were called into the Logan Banner.

The Lady Wildcats play at Tug Valley on Thursday and at Wyoming East on Monday. LHS hosts George Washington on Tuesday.

The Man High School volleyball team hosted Buffalo and Wyoming East on Tuesday and went to Poca on Tuesday. Man hosts Gilbert on Monday.
