Four jailed on drug charges

Members of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crime Task Force have made another bust on accused drug dealers with a Columbus connection according to recent police reports.

• Ricky Jermain Newton, 32, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested in Logan County by members of the task force on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance on Sept. 9.

According to law enforcement reports, on Sept. .9, Newton allegedly delivered crack cocaine from Homer Gibson's Cora residence.

"The accused did conspire with Gibson to deliver crack from his residence. Officers made two purchases from Gibson's residence. Statements taken by officers indicated that (Newton) had been in town for the past few days selling crack," a criminal complaint filed on Newton states. He was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 8:25 p.m.

Also arrested in connection with the incident were:

• Homer Preston Gibson, 37, of Logan, was arrested in Logan by the task force for conspiracy to deliver crack cocaine on Sept. 9.

Police reports state that Gibson allegedly conspired with Newton to deliver crack out of his home and that police officers made two controlled buys from the residence.

"Officers obtained and executed a search warrant for same (residence)," Gibson's criminal complaint states. "Officers obtained statements that the accused allowed Newton to sell crack from his home."

Gibson was taken into custody and booked at the regional jail at 8:20 p.m.

• Shanne Carol Heath, 26, of Columbus, was arrested in Logan by the task force for conspiracy to deliver crack cocaine on Sept. 9.

According to police reports, Heath allegedly conspired with Newton to deliver crack from the Cora residence and "officers obtained statements that the accused accompanied Newton from Columbus to sell crack from the residence."

Heath was booked at the regional jail at 6:30 p.m.

• Ashley Marie Blackburn, 26, of Logan was arrested in Logan by the task force for conspiracy to deliver crack cocaine on Sept. 9.

Police reports state that Blackburn allegedly conspired with Newton to deliver crack from the Cora residence and "officers obtained statements that the accused allowed Newton to sell crack from her home."

She was booked at the regional jail at 6:30 p.m.
