Gas prices fall in other areas, still high here

Gasoline prices fell across the country a nickel yesterday, according to reports from The Associated Press.

But, despite nationwide prices falling to an average of $2.59 for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, prices in southern West Virginia remained at $2.65 and $2.69.

In Pikeville, Ky., on Friday, gas dropped to $2.33 a gallon. The previous week, gas was $2.45 in Pikeville.

In South Williamson, gas last night was priced at $2.58 a gallon.

In Logan this morning, gas was still at $2.69 and it was priced at $2.79 at the Hatfield-McCoy Mart at the Fountain Place Mall. In Chapmanville and Danville, gas was priced at $2.65 a gallon.

At Myrtle on U.S. 119, gas was priced at $2.69 a gallon last night. At Delbarton and North Matewan, it was also still priced at $2.69 a gallon.
