Mingo County man pleads guilty to gun charge

CHARLESTON — James Matthew Ball, 45, of Gilbert, pled guilty yesterday before Chief United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to possessing a stolen firearm.

According to court documents, on July 10, 2008, Ball possessed a stolen 16 gauge shotgun in Gilbert, Mingo County. Ball, who is scheduled to be sentenced on December 10, 2009, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police.

Assistant United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston is handling the prosecution.
