The Logan Lady Wildcats volleyball team got its third win of the season last night by beating Burch, 3-0.
Logan won easily, 25-15, in the first set, but was nearly upset by the visiting Lady Bulldogs in the second game. Logan, though, got the 27-25 victory, before pounding Burch in the third set, 25-13.
“We played a whole lot better,” Logan Coach Ernistine Conn said. “We played as a team this time. They came together as a team and did what I told them to.
“We've still got some things to work out. Our back row is not real strong and that's what hurts us the most, but they're doing a whole lot better. We've been in kind of a rut and I think this win will lift their spirits a little bit.”
Conn praised her team for a good effort.
“Lara Sedlock and A’Lee Miller did exceptionally well,” Conn said. “This is Elysee Burkhammer's first year setting and she did very well. I'm very impressed with her. We got our serves in and that's the most important thing.”
Burch Coach Jan Cisco was disappointed in his team's performance.
“I thought we would be coming together better than we are,” Cisco said following the loss. “My girls are trying hard, but the lack of experience is hurting them.”
The Lady Bulldogs were coming off a big win over Class AA Iaeger the night before. Cisco said his team played well in that game. Burch returns to action tonight at home at 6:30 p.m., in a tri-match with Class AA Tolsia and Williamson. Logan improved to 3-6-1 on the year and will play at St. Albans on Tuesday.
