Earlier in the evening, the Lady Bulldogs lost 2-0 to the Tolsia Lady Rebels, who also beat Williamson, 2-0.
The Lady Dogs beat Williamson, 25-12 in the first set and 25-18 in the second to win the match. Burch lost to Tolsia, 25-13 and 25-15, and Williamson fell to the Lady Rebels 25-11 and 25-13.
Burch Coach Jan Cisco said he was proud of his team for playing so well together.
"We played as a team," Cisco said. "I thought we played very well against Tolsia and then we came out and did very well against Williamson. I think our girls wanted it worse than Williamson's girls did. We have really picked up our game and we're playing together. All of my girls played well. My junior varsity girls played a good game, too. I thought Jamie Columbia did well with her serving and digging. Kristen and Ashley were hitting the ball well. But, I don't want to just single out one girl. They all played very well. I'm proud of them all."
Williamson Coach Tondra Elkins wasn't so happy with her team. Visibily upset over her team's lacksidasical effort against Burch, she said she was "ticked at them."
"Our serving killed us," she said.
The Lady Bulldogs return home Monday for a tri-match with state powerhouse Buffalo and Class AA Sherman at the Burch High School Gymnasium.
Williamson travels to Gilbert on October 5.
