I write today to express my relief that so many people are truely Friends of America. Not too long ago I found myself starting to believe that some people would rather place their political party ahead of what is best for this nation. I was proven wrong on Labor Day at the rally on Holden 22. Politcal affiliation didn't matter, race didn't matter and gender made no difference. We stood as Americans who were fighting to save the land they love.
I found it amazing that our Governor, congressman, and secretary of state chose to attend the UMWA rally instead of the event at Holden. They let their party and greed step ahead of their values. One democrat did not. Art Kirkendoll attended the rally and donned a pro-coal shirt.
This at first startled me because the stance of the democratic party is that coal is a dirty energy and as no place in a "green" America. The only thing there is room for in a "green" America is their greed.
Art knows that coal is more than a four letter word and he spoke with conviction and placed his values ahead of his political affiliation.
I am proud to be represented by him. I hope he continues to lead not only his party, not only Logan countians, but all of southern West Virginia for a long time. Thank you Art Kirkendoll.
