CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mrs. Mildred Frances Wilson Miller, 81, of Chapmanville, walked into the arms of God Sunday, September 27, 2009, at her residence after a short illness.

Born December 7, 1927, in Olive Hill, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Groash and Gracie Wilson. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 63 years, Burl Miller, who is awaiting her arrival in Heaven; two sisters, Lorraine Campbell and Clorestene Lilly; one grandson, Eric Sanders, and one great-granddaughter, Makayla McAvory.

Mildred enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, quilting, crocheting, painting and many other crafts. She was a lifetime member of the Village Chapel Church of God, where she started in 1955 and remained until her illness. She has been serving the Lord since she was 13-years-old.

Those left to cherish her memory include six children, Gary Burl Miller, Chavis Dale (Mona) Miller, Judy Elaine (Ernest) Sanders, Bobby Gene (Linda) Miller and Debra Chyrl (Virgil Dale) Richards, all of Chapmanville, and Jackie Lee (Nancy) Miller of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel) Miller, Dena (Matt) McAvory, Stephanie (Nathaniel) Adams, Trisha (Rusty) Adams, Anita (Barry) Hensley, Stacy (Matt) Farley, Andrew (Kristin) Miller, Adam (Jennifer) Miller, Morgan Miller, Lindze Miller, Josh (Hillary) Richards, Shelley Richards and Kristin (Wellington) Ford; 18 great-grandchildren, Marissa and Madison McAvory, Ethan, Kenzie and Jaylin Adams, Colton and Alyssa Adams, Zachary, Abigail, Peyton and Legend Hensley, Hayden Farley, Brooklynn and Ashtyn Miller, Brianna, Seth and Lillyan Miller and Jayce Richards; four brothers, Ronald (Alice) Wilson and Elwood Wilson, both of Chapmanville, Charles (Toni) Wilson of Tacoma, Wash., and Oral (June) Wilson of Ohio, and three sisters, Shirlene Drake and Ima (Doug) Neil, both of Chapmanville, and Bernice Short of Dayton, Ohio.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, at the Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Miller and Rev. Dean Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be Adam Miller, Josh Richards, Mark Drake, Joey Wilson, Dale Richards and Nathaniel Adams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Damon Spurlock Jr., Gary Spurlock and James Spurlock.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
