CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK — Two cast meetings have been scheduled for persons interested in participating in “THE DARK… The Ultimate Haunted House Experience!” which is being produced by The Aracoma Story, Inc. and The Brothers of Mayhem (Mike and BJ Picklesimer of Chapmanville) in Chief Logan State Park.

The meetings have been scheduled for 6 p.m. today and at 6 p.m. on Thursday,

Both meetings will be held at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre in Chief Logan State Park.

Anyone interested in being a part of the haunted attraction as an actor or volunteer should attend.

“We are in the process of constructing what promises to be one of the most frightening haunted house experiences to be found anywhere,” Jim Frye, president of The Aracoma Story Inc., said in a press release. “‘THE DARK… Where your fears come to life! The Ultimate Haunted House Experience!” Many people who have acted on that stage can confirm they have seen and heard many unexplained things. There have been several reports of ghosts, creepy sights and other unexplainable happenings in that hollow at night.

“Just last night as we were completing some work, we heard something moving about in the dark on stage. I saw shadows of something I cannot explain. I quickly packed up my tools and left the site. It was not the time or place to be alone in the dark! I am confident that this haunted house attraction will have no shortage of scares for a frightening experience.”

According to the press release, as people enter what appears to be a creepy, old Appalachian-style house backstage of the amphitheater in Chief Logan State Park, you will begin your journey into “THE DARK…”

The attraction utilizes more than 5,000-square feet of space and each of the rooms and hallways will be filled with bone-chilling frights and unforeseen horrors.

“You will be challenged to walk throughout the house in small groups as you feel evil watching you, waiting for you,” Frye said in the press release. “You can feel the cold breath of something near you in the dark. Do you think that you’re not afraid of the dark? You’d better think again!”

The release said “To experience ‘THE DARK... The Ultimate Haunted House Experience!’ you must be able to walk throughout the attraction which may include low ceilings, narrow walkways, stairways and minor obstacles. You will experience intense audio and lighting, extreme low visibility, strobe lights, fog, damp or wet conditions and a physically demanding environment. You should not participate if you are pregnant, have claustrophobia, prone to seizures or have heart or respiratory problems. This attraction is not for the faint of heart!”

The release said that, due to the graphic nature and intensity of ‘THE DARK,’ parental discretion is advised.

All children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

“THE DARK…” will runs Tuesdays through Sunday, beginning on Oct. 13-18, 20-25, 27-30 and Nov. 1.

The haunted attraction will not be open on Halloween Night.

“THE DARK…” will be open each night from 7-11 p.m.

All tickets are $8 each and must be purchased at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater’s Box Office which opens nightly at 6:30 p.m. Visa, MasterCard and Debit Cards are accepted.

Group discounts are available for groups of 15 or more by calling The Aracoma Story, Inc. office at (304) 752-0253.
