A local man with a long history of arrests was arrested again recently after he allegedly tried to steal a washing machine.

Michael David Hatfield, 30, of Delbarton, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.K. Harris for breaking and entering, petit larceny and public intoxication on Sept. 26.

According to the police report, on Sept. 26, troopers Harris and C.W. Seacrist responded to a call about a breaking and entering in the Sarah Ann area. The victim told officers Michael Hatfield broke into and entered the building adjacent to his house and stole a washing machine.

The victim then told the troopers he caught the accused pushing the washing machine across his yard with a dolly. The report said Hatfield then admitted this to the officers.

Additionally, Hatfield was reportedly observed to be staggering and had slurred speech. The report said he admitted being under the influence of loratab and percocet.

Hatfield was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 4 p.m.

Hatfield has been arrested 19 times since 1997 on a variety of charges.
