Lady Tigers 10-6 after topping Poca

POCA – The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ volleyball team ran its record to 10-6 on the season with Tuesday night’s 25-16, 25-23 win at Poca in Cardinal Conference action.

Jenna Vance had nine kills, four blocks and one ace for the Lady Tigers. Jenna Vance had six aces and four kills. Alyssa Bailey contributed six kills, three blocks and two aces.

Lauren Shumate had four kills and three aces. Whitney Copley had three kills.

Chapmanville, coached by first-year mentor Angie Willis, is scheduled to return to action tonight at Man. The Lady Tigers then host Logan and Point Pleasant in a home tri-match on Thursday.

Wyoming East 3, Logan 0

The Logan High School girls’ volleyball team dropped to 4-8-1 on the season with Monday’s 3-0 loss at home to Wyoming East at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.

Logan had split on Sept. 29 in a tri-match at St. Albans as Logan beat the host Red Dragons 2-1 and lost 2-0 to Charleston Catholic.

The Lady Wildcats had earlier won 3-0 at home over Burch on Sept. 23 and lost to Westside 3-0 on Sept. 23.

Logan, coached by Ernistine Conn, was scheduled to play at George Washington on Tuesday but the match was canceled.

The Lady Cats play a tri-match at Chapmanville on Thursday and are matched up against the host Lady Tigers and also Point Pleasant. Logan lost 2-1 earlier in the season at home against Chapmanville in the opener.

Logan plays at Burch on Oct. 12 and hosts St. Albans on Oct. 13 and Lincoln County on Oct. 15.
