HENLAWSON — A special fundraising event to help a local veterans association is coming to town this Halloween.
The Henlawson Twilight Trail will be coming Oct. 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, and 30, courtesy of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 308.
"We are having a hayride beginning at the old Henlawson Grade School and riding over 1 mile to the PSD plant at Big Branch," volunteer Wanda Conley told The Logan Banner. "The price is $6 for adults and 4 for 12 and under."
As part of the fundraiser VVA308 will also be selling refreshments in the kitchen of the Vet Center. All proceeds go to the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Members of the community and other volunteers are donating their time and resources to provide the experience. The number for the Center is 752-2110 if anyone needs directions or info or would like to assist in the event.
And of course The Aracoma Story Inc. has not forgotten about trick or treat season. Following the phenomenal success of last year's October event, "Trail of the Dead", TASI has announced a new spooky attraction this Halloween season with "The Dark -The Ultimate Haunted House Experience "will debut at the Chief Logan State Park Amphitheater beginning October 13th. The Aracoma Story, Inc. has partnered with Mike and B.J. Picklesimer of Chapmanville to produce a memorable haunted house experience for people from throughout the region.
Visitors can expect the weird — ghosts, creepy sights and other unexplained happenings in that hollow at night. This new haunted house attraction will have no shortage of atmosphere for a frightening experience said Frye. The attraction utilizes over 5,000 square feet of space and each of the rooms and hallways will be filled with bone-chilling frights and unforeseen horrors. This attraction is not for the faint of heart!
