Burch beat Hannan 2-1. Hannan won the first set, 21-25, but Burch won the second game, 25-19 and the third, 25-23.
Hannan then beat Iaeger twice and Burch held off a determined Iaeger to win the match.
Burch beat Iaeger, 25-11, then lost to Iaeger, 13-25, to set up a third game, which the Lady Bulldogs won, 25-17.
“I think my girls played real well tonight,” Burch Coach Jan Cisco said. “We worked well together and our serves were better in the first game. But, in the second game, our serves were pitiful. Our serves made the game in the first game, but made it in the second game, too. Against Hannan, we played well. Miranda Evans did a wonderful job stepping in for Ashley Farley.”
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to travel to Gilbert on Thursday for a tri-match.
Williamson 3, Matewan 0
WILLIAMSON – The Williamson Lady Wolves topped the visiting Matewan Lady Tigers, 3-0, last night at Williamson High School.
“We played well and won three straight,” Williamson Coach Tondra Elkins said. “We haven’t played consistent and my girls don’t consider themselves winners, but they are winners. We have to change our mindset because these girls are winners.”
Williamson returns to action Thursday night for senior night, hosting Matewan and Tug Valley in a tri-match.
