SETH — The Tug Valley Lady Panthers volleyball team fell on the road last night, losing 3-0 to the Sherman Tide in a match at Seth in Boone County.

Sherman beat Tug Valley 25-16, 25-17 and 25-20.

Tug Valley Assistant Coach John Williamson wasn’t satisfied with his team’s performance.

“I thought we played pretty well, but we did not play up to our potential,” Williamson said. “Our junior varsity team, though, played really well. We’ve got good prospects coming up and that’s a good sign for next year.”

The junior varsity team won 2-1 over Sherman. The JV team lost to Sherman, 25-19, in the first set, then beat the Tide 15-25 and 21-25 on Brandi Preece’s two straight aces. The Tide Coach Terri Williams said her team played well throughout most of the match.

“I thought our varsity team played really good,” Williams said. “But, we had a little bit of a letdown in the third game.”

Sherman improves to 11-12 with the win and will play against Tuesday at home against Burch and Chapmanville in a tri-match.

The Lady Panthers return to action Tuesday night at Logan, which will be Senior Night for the host Lady Wildcats.

Tug Valley then plays at Chapmanville on Thursday night.
