MT. GAY — Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is offering a Creative Writing Course, “Memoirs”, instructed by Michael Knost. This six-week series will be held on Tuesdays, November 3, 10, 17, 24, and December 1 and 8, from 6–8 p.m., on the Logan Campus, Building A, Room 216A.

During this six week series, the instructor will offer tips and teach techniques that will assist the student in writing his or her memoir. This course will explore what the memoir is and what it is not; various structures that could be used in memoirs; points of view the author can use to make his or her memoirs come alive to the reader; techniques to make the memoir work as a story, yet retain the personal touch; various elements of story that must be present to make the memoir interesting to the reader; and how to get one’s memoir published as well as how to promote it.

The fee for this series is $50 per class or $300 for the entire series.
