MAN — A "Breast Cancer Awareness" walk was held on Saturday, October 24, at the Buffalo Creek Memorial Library. A group of over 50 participants were lead on the two mile walk through South Man by breast cancer survivors.

Cancer Information Specialist Brenda Harlowe from Marshall University presented the walkers with pink t-shirts, informational handouts and pink favors. Refreshments were provided by Vicki Browning with the Pride in Logan County Aging Program and Nancy Harless from the Triadelphia Woman's Club.

Man High School's "Relay for Life" team also participated in the fund raising and the walk, along with their sponsors, Brenda Lusk, Sharon Thompson, Amy Lusk, Cecelia Bias and Rachel Dingess. Michelle Toler and Alice Childers represented the Community Health Foundation, who sponsors an annual "Breast Cancer Awareness" memorial service for the community.

This walk was held in conjunction with the weekly "Mayor on the Move" walk, which meets at the library every Saturday at 9 a.m. Monies raised at this event will benefit the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Fund.

"This will be an annual event to be held in October of each year," said Elizabeth Tackett, librarian at the Buffalo Creek Memorial Library. "Brochures and flyers are available at the library for the public."
