Local man jailed on weapon charge

WEST LOGAN — Local police have had an unusual rash of gun related arrests in the month of October according to law enforcement reports.

• Eugene Miller, 74, of West Logan was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Hensley for brandishing a deadly weapon and assault on Oct. 19.

According to police reports on that Monday evening brandished a loaded shotgun at the victims.

"According to witnesses, the accused wanted the two victims to move a trailer that was blocking his view from his front window," the report states. "The accused told them to move the trailer or die as he held a shotgun at them. At the time of arrest, the accused did have a loaded shotgun within arms each of them. In an excited utterance, the accused stated, 'I was going to kill him if you all hadn't shown up and when I get out I'm gonna kill him.’"

He was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 8:15 p.m.

In other arrest reports:

• David May, 57, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County by the West Virginia State Police for parole violation for being a felon in posession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, posession of a controlled substance and driving on a revoked license on Oct. 19.

He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 11:50 p.m.
