Man still No. 1, Tigers remain 10th in football ratings

The Man High School football team is still the No. 1-ranked Class A team in the state with two games left to play in the season.
The Hillbillies garnered the No. 1 spot again this week with a 7-1 record and 10.00 rating. Man leads Richwood, which is second with an 8-0 mark and 9.63 rating.
Wheeling Central (6-2) is third, Madonna (8-0) fourth, Clay-Battelle (8-0) fifth, Williamstown (6-2) sixth, Wahama (7-1) seventh, Iaeger (7-1) eighth, Fayetteville (7-2) ninth and Wirt County (6-2) 10th.
Tucker County (6-2) is 11th, Parkersburg Catholic (6-2) 12th and Bishop Donahue (6-2) and Pendleton County (6-2) are tied for 13th. South Harrison (6-2) and Valley Fayette (5-3) are tied for 15th.
Man is coming off last week’s 61-0 crushing of 2A Wyoming East.
The Billies play at Buffalo on Friday night and close out the season at home against No. 20 Matewan on Nov. 7.
If the season ended today, No. 1 Man would have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and would host South Harrison or Valley Fayette in the first round of the post-season.
In the Class AA ratings, Chapmanville (6-2) remained 10th in the state after the Tigers won 33-16 at Tolsia last Friday night.
Chapmanville plays at No. 1-ranked Wayne on Friday night, then closes out the regular season Nov. 6 at home against No. 13 Point Pleasant. The Tigers are trying to reach the playoffs for the third straight season.
Wayne (8-0) is first in the state with a 12:25 rating. The Pioneers lead No. 2 Magnolia, which is 8-0 with an 11.63 rating.
Sherman (8-0) is third, Ravenswood (7-1) fourth, Keyser (6-2) fifth, Westside (8-1) sixth, James Monroe (7-1) seventh, Frankfort (7-1) eighth, Bluefield (6-2) ninth, Chapmanville 10th, Herbert Hoover (6-3) 11th, Pikeview (5-3) 12th, Point Pleasant (5-3) 13th, Oak Glen (6-3) 14th, Liberty Raleigh (5-3) 15th and Greenbrier West (6-3) 16th.
If the season ended today, Chapmanville would travel to James Monroe for a first-round playoff game. The Tigers hosted the Mavericks in the opening round of the 2008 Class AA playoffs and lost 33-0 at Tiger Stadium.
In this week’s Class AAA ratings, Brooke (8-0) is first in the state with a 16.63 rating.
Fairmont (8-0) is second, South Charleston (7-1) third, Bridgeport (8-0) and Spring Valley (7-1) are tied for fourth, George Washington (6-2) is sixth, Nicholas County (8-1) is seventh, Martinsburg (7-2) eighth, Ripley (7-2) and University (7-2) are tied for ninth, Capital (5-3) is 11th, Lewis County (7-2) 12th, Morgantown (6-3) is 13th, Parkersburg South (5-3) is 14th and Riverside (5-4) and Robert C. Byrd (5-3) are tied for 15th.
