NAUGATUCK — The Gilbert High School Lady Lions volleyball team, unbeaten in tournament play, advanced to tonight's Class A Region 4 Section 2 championship game, where they will face the Man Lady Billies.

The game is set for 6 p.m. tonight at Gilbert High School.

Man eliminated the Williamson Lady Wolves, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-19. Williamson won one set, 17-25.

Gilbert knocked off the Matewan Lady Tigers, 25-21, 25-7 and 25-21, and then Man finished off the Lady Tigers, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-16 to move into the title match.

The win improves Gilbert to 26-6.

In Class AA sectional play, the Tug Valley High School Lady Panthers advanced to the winner's bracket of the tournament yesterday with a forfeit win over Mount View.

The Lady Panthers will now play tonight at Tolsia High School in the double-elimination tournament.

"I didn't figure Mount View would show up," Tug Valley Coach Vonda Preston said yesterday morning in a phone interview with The Logan Banner. Tug would have to lose two matches to be eliminated from the sectional tournament.

Two teams — the winner and runner-up — will advance to the regional tournament from the section.
