Born May 11, 1945, in Logan, she was a daughter of Mary Blankenship Messer of Big Creek and the late W.O. Blankenship. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Herbert Messer; one brother, Okey “Buddy” Blankenship, and two grandsons, Kolbie Todd and Eric Scott.
Additionally, those she left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Becky (Kelly) Savage of Crown City, Ohio, and Ada (Charles “Chubby”) Vance of Mud Fork; three sons, Daniel (Patty) Messer and Jeff (Tammy) Messer, both of Chapmanville, and William “Scott” (Pat) Messer of Crown City; two brothers, Ronald (Beck) Blankenship of Big Creek and Mick (Joni) Blankenship of Columbus; step-father, Harvey Messer of Big Creek; two step-sisters, Connie and Teresa Messer, both of Columbus; 17 grandchildren, Ricky Jr., Shawn, Michael, Teresa, Amber, Brad, Marisa, Derek, Gracie, Stephen, Bryan-Mikey, Kristen, Casey-DJ, Brandon, Brandy, Shana, and Tyler; seven great-grandchildren; six nieces; six nephews, and two special friends, Beverly Bruce and Jim Figley, both of Columbus.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, at the Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Faine officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill.
Pallbearers will be Rick Dillion, Shawn Dillion, Brad Dillion, Stephen Sparks, B-Mikey Sparks, Brandon Savage and Casey-DJ Messer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Green, Kelly Savage, Okey “Zach” Blankenship and Charles “Chubs” Vance.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
