Born November 11, 1928, in Logan County, he was a son of the late Brady and Clara Adams Bowling. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Emma Lou Bowling, and one sister, Ruby Yeager.
Otis was a U.S. Army veteran, enjoyed coon hunting, watching all sports, and spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. Otis loved sitting on his front porch rocking and talking to his friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Sherri Bowling Adkins of Chapmanville; two sons, Rick (Tammy) Bowling of Chapmanville and Van Douglas (Karen) Bowling of Concord, Calif.; three sisters, Pansy Burwell of Green Shoals, Agnes Keyser of Stollings and Sylvia (Lou) Rayburn of Godby Branch; one brother, Autis (Annabelle) Bowling of Chapmanville; five grandchildren, Casey (Jessica) Bowling, Erin Bowling and Sha Adkins, all of Chapmanville, and John and Jennifer of California; special friends, Edward and Pauline Ferrell, his cousin and best friend Reford Scaggs of Chapmanville, and Earl “Buggs” Dingess, who was like a son to him.
At Otis’ request, his remains will be cremated and there will be no services. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
