Born August 11, 1937, in Logan County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Katherine Brown. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Otis Bowling; two brothers, Charles and Clyde Brown, and one brother-in-law, Chuck Steele.
Emma enjoyed crafts, painting, writing, poetry, spending time with her beloved family and singing. She was a former member of the Chapmanville Town Council, a member of the Church of Christ in Chapmanville and loved helping and doing for others.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Sherri Bowling Adkins of Chapmanville; one son, Rick (Tammy) Bowling of Chapmanville; two sisters, Vivian (Lowell) Workman of Ocala, Fla., and Virginia Steele of Mendocina, Calif.; four brothers, Nathan (Lois) Brown of Ormond Beach, Fla., Holmes (Mollie) Brown of Lexington, S.C., Franklin (Alice) Brown of Palm Coast, Fla., and Everett (Rosie) Brown of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Casey (Jessica) Bowling, Erin Bowling and Sha Adkins, all of Chapmanville; special friends, Shala McDowell Ellis and Edward and Pauline Ferrell, and her special pet, Marvin.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, at the Freeman Funeral Home with Greg Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pallbearers will be family and close friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
