VERNER — The body of a woman who was inside a truck that plunged into the Guyandotte River has been found, according to a Mingo County Emergency Services worker.

A Mingo County 911 dispatcher said this morning that the body of the woman was found in the river about 20 feet from the truck in which she had been riding with her husband, who escaped the accident.

The news web site www.wsaz.com reported last night that the RD Bailey Dam was shut down to make it easier for emergency crews to search the Guyandotte River.

Route 80 was closed while crews conducted their search, but was reopened earlier this morning. The Logan Banner has a reported identification of the woman, but will not release the name until the police have notified her family. The West Virginia State Police Gilbert Detachment is investigating the crash.
