Logan, however, committed 35 turnovers and lost 73-47 to the Generals to drop to 0-2 on the season.
The Lady Cats led Winfield 13-12 after one quarter and fell behind just 32-26 at the half and 47-38 after three.
Winfield then dominated the fourth quarter by outpointing Logan 26-9 to turn the game into a rout.
“We committed 25 turnovers alone in the second half and that’s what killed us,” Logan veteran coach Tim Cunningham said. “We were in the game until then but we ended up with 35 turnovers for the game. You can’t beat anybody when you have that many turnovers. But other than the turnovers we thought that we played with them. They were excited about playing.”
Katie Chryssofos led Logan with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Erica Kelley was right behind with 16 points.
Brianna Johnson had 10, while Jessica Bias had four points and Jenna Kimbler, a freshman, had three.
Rachel Ashley led Winfield with 20 points.
Winfield is coached by Chapmanville High School graduate and former Logan High School assistant softball coach Tim Toler, who is in his second year as the head mentor for the Generals.
Jade Smith added 16 points, seven assists and five steals for Winfield.
Logan returns to action on Monday at county rival Man. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The Lady Cats then go to Westside next Thursday and host Wayne on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. in the home opener.
