MAN – The Man High School girls’ basketball team ran its record to 2-0 on the season with Monday afternoon’s 50-49 win over county rival Logan at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

Man’s Tabby Johnston lifted her team to victory as she hit a free throw with 15 seconds left to push the Lady Billies’ lead to 50-46.

Logan’s Jessica Bias then drilled a 3-pointer with 1.1 ticks to go to pull the Lady Cats to within 50-49 but that’s as close as LHS could get.

Logan fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss.

Paige Stacy led Man with 14 points. Johnston had 12, while Malorie Vance had nine, Summer Sword six, Taylor Whited four and Lori Justice two.

Erica Kelley canned seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 21 points. Bias had 14, Katie Chryssofos five, Brianna Johnson four, Jenna Kimbler three and Faydra Martin one.

The Lady Cats led Man 12-10 after one quarter, 23-19 at the half and 37-36 after three. The Lady Billies outscored Logan 14-12 in the fourth to win the game.

Logan plays at Westside on Thursday night.

Man is set to take part in the Chapmanville Holiday Tournament, Dec. 22-23.
