The Logan Police Department and relatives of a young man who may have been the victim of a violent crime are asking for help in learning exactly what caused his severe injuries.

The teenager, Ricky "Rik" Justice, 18, was discovered last week walking along the Logan Boulevard naked from the waist down and suffering from a collapsed lung, a severe puncture wound on his leg and several cuts and bruises.

"He's pretty bad off," said Logan City Patrolman Aaron Newsome who, along with Sgt. Dave White are handling the investigation into the incident.

According to Justice’s family, he is doing better, but his mother says she is very worried for him and is asking the public to come forward with what they may know about the incident.

Justice is reportedly recovering fairly well from most of his injuries, but is said to be somewhat confused according to Officer Newsome and there have been no tips given to police about the incident. Newsome said he is hopeful that someone will come forward and tell the police what really happened to Justice.

Officer Newsome said anybody who has information about the incident should contact the Logan Police Department at 304-752-6535. He said police are also hopeful that Justice will be able to give a statement to police this week.

Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper said Justice was fortunate that some Good Samaritans found him and took him to Logan Regional Medical Center for help.

“The people who found him in the middle of the road said he was walking up the middle of the boulevard with a jacket and socks and nothing else on,” Harper said, noting that Justice was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment. Harper said the exact nature of how Justice was injured was not known, but foul play has not been ruled out.

“It’s kind of hard for me to believe he walked all the way up there from somewhere else with no clothes on (from the waist down) and we didn’t get a call on him. It’s my opinion that somebody put him out up there or something,” Harper said in an earlier interview.
