At least one person was seriously injured yesterday in a two-vehicle crash near Rum Junction on State Route 10.

The crash occurred around 2:44 p.m. yesterday in front of Saveway Gas between Logan and Man.

Reportedly, a white Ford automobile and a maroon Oldsmobile collided in front of the service station close to the mouth of Rum Junction.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center for treatment at 3:07 p.m. He was then taken to a Charleston hospital.

Around 3:30 p.m., more fire department vehicles and a Department of Transportation vehicle arrived on scene.

Logan County Sheriff’s Cpl. Freddie Ferrell and Lt. Dennis Brown investigated the crash.

Neither Ferrell nor Brown were available for comments this morning.

Logan County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sonya Porter said this morning the victim, a male, was in critical condition in a Charleston hospital.

First responders were on the scene of the crash in minutes after the call came in to Logan County 911.

Traffic was halted for a mile in both directions for more than an hour.

Deputies, the City of Logan Fire Department and the Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority were on the scene in minutes to provide aid to the people in the collision.

No additional information was available as of press time this morning.
