Lester nets 34 points as Gilbert girls crush Williamson, 82-36

GILBERT – The Gilbert High School girls’ basketball team captured the championship of its own Mollette-Murphy Invitational with an easy 82-36 victory over Mingo County rival Williamson on Wednesday night.

The Lady Lions led 27-10 after one quarter, 41-17 at the half and 64-24 at the end of three.

Crystal Lester poured in 34 points to lead Gilbert (3-2).

Danielle Butcher netted 14, Keasha Browning 13, Kalenia Ellis six and Chrissy Farmer five. Renae Cline and Catherine Browning had three each. Shawna Browning and Chelsea Lambert tallied two each.

Gilbert sank 12 3-pointers and was 16-of-26 from the free throw line.

Williamson (2-2) was paced by Jessica Fields and Devan Maynard, who scored 11 and nine points respectively.

The Lady Pack were just 13-of-28 from the foul line.

Gilbert is scheduled to host Man on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m.
