Workman was crowned Miss Logan County on August 8, 2009, during the 37th Annual Logan County Fair.
A total of 83 contestants are scheduled to compete in the event which includes categories such as Evening Wear, Casual Wear, and a Personal Interview. Workman will be promoting tourism within Logan by highlighting the county’s attractions and history.
Workman is the daughter of the late Melody White and resides in Chauncey with her grandmother, Marie White.
A senior at Logan High School, Workman has served on the Prom Committee and is on the honor roll. When she was crowned Miss Logan County Fair 2009, Workman was awarded a $500 scholarship from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, where she plans to attend and to pursue a career in Radiology upon graduation from Logan High School in May 2010.
Workman is active within the community as a cheerleader for Southern Elite All-Stars, a gymnastics teacher at Word of Life Church, and a volunteer for the Matt Patterson Toy Drive. As Miss Logan County, she served as hostess for the 2090 Logan County Firemen’s Ball.
Workman arrived in Charleston Thursday to attend an orientation and rehearsal for the pageant and will begin competition on today. To prepare for this weekend’s competition, she has been reading and studying Logan County and West Virginia history, which is a popular subject within the personal interview. The interview will count for 90 percent of her composite score.
Asheley Allie, Logan County Fair pageant director, will be accompanying Workman to the state competition. The Logan County Fair is sponsored by the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
