A statewide exercise initiative that got off to a good start locally has received another grant to continue.

Several years ago West Virginia on the Move started in Logan County and annual "On the Move" events have been a part of the exercise initiative ever since.

Shannon C. Holland, executive director of West Virginia on the Move announced that the initiative received a boost in funding recently.

"I'm excited to share that West Virginia on the Move has been awarded a third grant through Logan Healthcare Foundation for the Southern WV on the Move," she said, explaining the program promotes the benefits of a physically active lifestyle to citizens and communities in Boone, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Wyoming counties.

The grant will run from January 2010 to December 2011.

"In general, we will continue many of the successful aspects of our programming and expand to support other areas of need," she said. "Planning for this grant will begin in January, so start thinking of how we can improve what we have done in the past.”
