• Craig Long, 32, of St. Albans, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper P.J. Dick for possession of a controlled substance and fraudulent obtaining material on Dec. 28.
According to police reports the Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority discovered that "nine bottles of morphine, ten bottles of Valium and two bottles of frentanyl were used on an ambulance and filled back up with saline."
"This officer received a written statement from Craig Long who admitted to taking he medication and filling the bottles back up with saline. Long further failed to complete the paperwork when using the medication as required by the ambulance service. "
A warrant was issued for his arrest on Dec. 28, and he was reportedly taken into custody and released.
Many people given a second chance were sent back to jail in the fall and winter for failing to abide by their agreements in different alternative sentencing programs. Some more than once.
•Melinda Sue Damron, 20, of Switzer, was arrested in Logan County by Patrolmen Aaron Newsome and Kevin Conley of the Logan Police Department for shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication and battery on an officer on Jan. 1. According to police reports the officers responded to a complaint at Wal Mart and were told Damron allegedly opened several packages and concealed the items "then attempted to leave the store without paying for them." When the officers spoke with Damron they noticed she had "glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet." When the officers attempted to handcuff Damron she resisted and kicked one policeman in the leg. "Upon search of the purse this officer found three xanax and one loratab," the report states.
She was booked at the regional jail at 10:30 p.m.
•Bobby Lee Vance, 24, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County by the West Virginia State Police Troopers J.D. Hensley and T.D. Boggs for burglary and petit larceny on Jan. 3.
According to police reports Vance allegedly "did enter he home of the victim...through a hole in the back of the house and stole her son's Playstation 3 and 10 games."
"The accused, Bobby Vance admitted to being behind the home where the hole in the house (was) and leaving his footprints in the snow," the report states, adding that Vance allegedly told the victims he did not have the gaming system, "but he could get it back."
He was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 7:45 p.m.
•William David Sparks, 24, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County for drug court violation on Jan. 14. He was booked at the regional jail at 7 p.m. He was booked at the regional jail at 4:45 p.m. on that date.
•Brandon Scott Vincent, 24, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County, agency not listed, for a drug court violation on Jan. 6. He was booked at the regional jail at 3:54 p.m.
•Steven Michael Workman, 30, residence not listed, was arrested in Logan County for a violation of his drug court agreement on Dec. 29. He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 3:20 p.m.
