A Chapmanville native who won $1 million on a television gameshow will be the guest of honor at a celebration this evening.
A press release from Brian Kirkendoll said Sam Murray, a Chapmanville native who currently resides in Philadelphia, will be honored this evening at 6 p.m. at a celebration at the Chapmanville Municipal Building for winning the gameshow “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” during the show’s Tournament of Ten.
Murray is a 1983 graduate of Chapmanville High School and is the son of Estel Murray, who is also from Chapmanville and is a municipal court judge in Chapmanville. His mother, Antonia Flaherty, is from Bellmawr, NJ.
Murray said in a previous press release he intends to use his winnings to go to nursing school. Kirkendoll said Murray is currently back home in Chapmanville visiting friends and family.
