Lady Tigers fall at Wayne; Lady Cats lose to Tolsia for third time

It wasn’t a good night for the Chapmanville Regional and Logan High School girls’ basketball teams on Thursday night.

Chapmanville went to Wayne and were upended, 56-44, in Cardinal Conference action.

Logan was hammered by Tolsia, 64-30, losing for the third time this season to the Lady Rebels.

In the Chapmanville-Wayne game, the Lady Tigers led 12-8 after one quarter and 23-20 at the half. The Pioneers, however, outscored Chapmanville 19-6 in the third to take a 39-29 lead after three. Wayne then outscored the Lady Tigers 19-16 in the fourth to get the win.

Chapmanville was led by Kelli Garrett’s 14 points.

Jenna Evans had 10, while Brittani Lowe and Jenna Evans had six each. Lydia Vance had five and Allison Evans four.

Kristen Stiltner tossed in 17 to lead Wayne. Tasha Maynard had 13.

Chapmanville dropped to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the Cardinal Conference. Wayne improved to 9-9. The Pioneers gained a season series split with CRHS. Wayne had lost 54-44 at Chapmanville earlier in the season.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Sherman on Monday night.

In the Logan-Tolsia game, the Lady Rebels jumped on top of the Lady Cats 15-6 after one quarter and 38-10 at the half and never looked back in posting the win at Willie Akers Arena.

Logan (4-12) was led by Erica Kelley’s 17 points. Jasmine Workman had four, Hannah Tothe three and Faydra Martin, Katie Kirk and Jessica Lester all had two each.

Kara Pollinger had 17 and Amber Finley 12 to lead Tolsia.

Tolsia, ranked No. 4 in the state in Class AA, improved to 13-4.

The Rebels had beaten Logan 73-28 and 54-34 in earlier meetings this season.

The Lady Cats play at Wyoming East on Monday.
