WILLIAMSON — Federal agents and West Virginia State Police closed a pain clinic yesterday afternoon for unknown reasons.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the West Virginia State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a federal search warrant at the Wellness Center on Third Avenue in downtown Williamson.

The primary physician at the clinic is Dr. Katherine Hoover, although other doctors’ offices are housed in the building. The building was closed and officers were visible outside. No one was allowed to enter and reports said agents were still there today.

The WVSP would not comment on the investigation and referred The Logan Banner to the U.S. Attorney’s office, which also refused to comment. It was not known at press time if other facilities were closed down by the federal agents.
