Born December 2, 1920, in Logan, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Ida Frazier Dempsey. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Mack Nelson; one son, Ansel Nelson; one infant daughter, Ruby Joyce Nelson; one infant son, Limuel Nelson; her companion, Narlis Watts Sr., and two sisters, Garnet Dempsey White and Ruby Dempsey Blankenship.
Mabel enjoyed traveling and seeing different places, sewing, quilting, flea marketing and helping others in any way she could. She was of the Church of God faith.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Peggy Watts (Roger) Lambert of Harts, Patricia Watts (Dave) Majic of Clendenin and Florene Nelson (Clovis) Mullins of Ferrellsburg; four sons, Elmer Nelson of Huntington, Charlie M. (Kathy) Nelson of Ona, Narlis (Kim) Watts Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and Don (Quinnie) Watts of Chapmanville; two sisters, Bessie (Dewey) Adkins of Toney Addition and Gladys (the late Arthur) Porter of Sprucepine, Ala.; one brother, Ray (Brenda) Dempsey of Paynesville; 17 grandchildren, Misty Watts Richardson, Angel D. Watts Manthey, Sherry Mullins Tackett, Anthony “Tony” Mullins, Makala Nelson, Rebecca D. Watts, Donnie A. Watts, Stacee Watts, Hannah Watts, April D. Nelson, Ronnie Nelson, Russell Nelson, Karen Nelson, Angela Nelson, Tammy Duty, Joseph Herron and Donnice Maynard; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her dear friends, Mae White, Freda Bell and Peggy J. White, and a host of other close family and friends.
