Ermel Roberson, 81, of Baisden, died Monday, March 1, 2010. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Four Winds Tabernacle at Sprattsville. Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of the arrangements.
Staci Lynn Spaulding, 19, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper E.B. McClung for DUI causing death, reckless disregard, failure to maintain control, speeding and passing left of center after she slammed her car into Roberson's causing it to hit another car on State Route 44 at Omar on Monday. Roberson was reportedly killed on impact.
Spaulding was taken into custody and was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 8:44 p.m.
Traffic in both directions was blocked along State Route 44 while crews cleaned up the debris.
A spokesperson at the Logan detachment of the West Virginia State Police said the crash happened around 4 p.m. Monday.
The spokesperson said traffic was halted for more than two hours along Route 44.
Roberson's wife, 76-year-old Bobbie J. Roberson, died in St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington on Wednesday. She was in the hospital at the time of her the crash that killed her husband. Bobbie J. Roberson’s funeral services will be held at the same time as her husband's at the Four Winds Tabernacle at Sprattsville. Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is also in charge of her arrangements.
