The value of “No”

Editor,

“No” is often a very good word. Beginning at infancy, we use “No” to teach our children about many of the inherent perils of life. Whether attempting to touch something hot, or walking to closely to the edge of the porch, or putting something toxic into their mouths … our parenting method is to first get the message clearly to their little brains … “No!” or “Don’t”.

Sadly, in today’s America, it has become necessary to shout the same message to the political elites in Washington, D.C., but sadder still, they see no consequence in ignoring us. I pray such arrogance will only serve to their own peril as has been evidenced in recent months with the elections in Virginia, New Jersey and most notably in Massachusetts. Washington liberals like Nancy Pelosi, B. Hussein Obama and Nick Rahall have repeatedly sought to take our country over the cliff into a communist style government. Thankfully, the conservatives have stood strong and voted No” at every turn. But instead of Rahall and his comrades getting the message … they blame those who vote no as though the word “No” is a bad thing. They’ve even gone so far as to refer to the Republicans as “The Party of No”.

Well I for one am very proud to be one of those “No people”. I don’t believe the federal government has the answer to everyone’s problems. I don’t believe they even have a responsibility to consider every man’s problems! In fact I would go so far as to say that they are infringing upon our very freedoms when they ask me what color I am, what God I worship or what model of automobile I drive. It’s none of their business!

I love truth, freedom and honesty; and I simply do not believe that the elite politicians representing us in Washington; Byrd, Rockefeller and Rahall feel the same way. I sincerely believe they have one ambition, power. If it weren’t so, why do they repeatedly vote “yes” on issues that the majority of West Virginian’s feel should be “no”?

They supported Obama-care, bail outs of the banks, the takeover of the auto industry, and even the insanity of manmade climate change! Hey guys, if the climate didn’t change could it still be called climate or weather? That's what weather does … it changes! It’s called seasons.

So, I’ll ask each of you three once more … “Why don’t you demand open, public Congressional hearings to debate manmade climate change?” I know you won’t do it because you are cowards. You would more readily sacrifice the jobs and futures of the people in your own state rather than stand up to your liberal comrades. Unlike the proclamation of Al Gore or the IPCC, the debate is not over. Truth is, it never occurred and won’t occur if you guys have your way.

In typical fashion you will “shove it down our throats” even though it will completely destroy our West Virginia economy and all those industries that depend on coal. The May primary election is just around the corner. If you agree with me; I encourage you to become part of the “No” movement by voting for anyone other than Nick Rahall.

And please do not be deceived by his sudden interest in the people of southern West Virginia. The only reason he’s in town is because election time is here. Wake up and see when you are being played. Rahall is playing us for fools once more. Will you buy it again? Not me. I’m a firm believer in the value of “No”!
