Paul Daniel Jenkins, 27, was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden on March 11 at 5 p.m. on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and DUI causing death.
In September 2009, Jenkins was indicted for DUI causing bodily injury, no insurance, failure to maintain control and obstructing an officer.
Don McDaniel was appointed as his defense attorney, but Jenkins then fled the area when he was indicted on charges of DUI causing death.
Jenkins was allegedly driving under the influence when he crashed his vehicle into the brick wall of a car wash structure in the Aracoma area.
Authorities had been looking for Jenkins for some time and learned that Jenkins had been located in Paintville, Ky., a few weeks ago.
Jenkins was in other legal trouble dating back to a robbery in a jewelry store downtown where his co-conspiritor allegedly left behind a valuable piece of evidence — his finger.
On June 10, 2008, two individuals later identified as Jenkins and Jeremy Dwight Neace, who was then 28, of Logan, were arrested following a late night incident where a rock was thrown through the glass door of Browning’s Diamond & Gold Exchange on Stratton Street by two thieves who fled the scene, leaving a bloody trail down the streetthat led police to their locations. The duo didn't go far and was arrested by Logan Police Sgt. Dave White.
Browning said that at one point one of the thieves cut the tip of his finger off on a glass case during the robbery.
"The tip of the finger was still laying in there," he said. "We looked at the robbery on our security camera video, and the whole incident only took about a minute and a half."
