MARY BOYTEK

DANVILLE, W.Va. — Mary Ruth Boytek, 59, of Danville, formerly of Sharples, went to be with the Lord with family by her side in the early morning hours of Monday, March 29, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a courageous 25 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born May 31, 1950, in Madison, she was a daughter of Hazel Julia Maynard of Chapmanville, formerly of Sharples, and the late Jess Edwin Maynard. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Roger Dale Boytek, and mother-in-law, Betty Jo Boytek. Mary was employed by Sharples Coal (Zapata) up until her illness. She was a devoted wife

and mother and throughout her illness remained positive. Pleasantly welcoming each day, she wore a smile that touched all that knew her. She enjoyed sports, Marshall has lost one of their biggest fans.

Additionally, those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughters, Julie Jo (David) Morgan of Athens and Johnnie Mae Boytek of Danville; grandsons that brought her much joy, Oliver and Samuel

Morgan of Athens; brothers John (Paige) Schoolcraft of Big Stone Gap, Va., Charles Robert (Kathy) Schoolcraft of Beardstown, Ill., and Jess Edwin (Loretta) Maynard Jr. of Point Pleasant; sisters, Lilly Lawson

of Florida and Paula (Eric) Campbell of Chapmanville; brother-in-law, Jackie Boytek of Blair, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Debbie Huffman and the rest of her extended family at Meadow Brooke, where she resided.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the James Funeral

Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Robert Schoolcraft officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

RUFUS DINGESS

WEST LOGAN, W.Va. — Rufus Dingess, 81, of West Logan, went peacefully

to be with his heavenly father Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.

Born December 13, 1928, in Stirrat, he was a son of the late John F. and Ella Meadows Dingess. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Sena Dingess, and half-brothers, William Dingess, Neal Dingess and

Cush Dingess.

Rufus was an electrician for 49 years, retiring from Arch Coal in September 1994. He was honorably discharged as a corporal in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Rufus’ unparalleled love and

dedication for his family and his infectious smile will live on in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 and one-half

years, Lava Eudora Dingess; one son Rufus Dingess Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one brother, John F. Dingess Jr. of Phico; one sister, Myrtle Brown of Davis; half-brother, Harry Dingess of Henlawson; sister-in-law, Clara Dingess of Henlawson; special nephew and niece, Tommy and Annette Dingess of Seth; special great-niece, Amber Dingess (Andrew) White of Comfort, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with Bishop Mike Davis officiating, and providing eulogy will be John Evans. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Dingess, Gary White, John Evans, Frank Cole, Dennis Hamrick Jr., Michael B. Bledsoe, Jason Browning and Olen York.

Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Hainer, Randell Baisden, Glenn Baldwin, Fred Waybright, Vincent J. White and Oscar Burgess.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

CLIFFORD RICHARDS

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Clifford Calvin Richards, 74, of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 29, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born February 18, 1936, in Chapmanville, he was a son of the late

Edger and Mirble Virginia Whitt Richards. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Johnny Richards, Wallace Richards and Ishmeal Richards, and one brother-in-law, Joe Bryant.

Clifford enjoyed hunting, running a dozer, riding four-wheelers, working on guns and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Devon Richards; five daughters, Shirley (Gallie) Adams, Teresa (Richard) Allen, Frances Richards, Donna Marie Richards and Mirble Virginia (Arnold) Collins, all of Chapmanville; six sons, Clarence (Diane)Richards, Clark Richards, Manuel Richards, Mark Everette Richards,

Berthal Clifford Richards and Jason Richards (Shelvia), all of Chapmanville; two sisters, Gladys Conley of Smokehouse and Mary

Workman of Garretts Fork; two brothers, Thomas Richards of Eagles Roost and Joe Richards of Upper Crawley Creek; 23 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-great-grandchildren, and special friends, Noah Whitt, Lane Whitt, Homer Richards, Orval Adams and Mike Richards.

A celebration of Clifford’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the Freeman Funeral Home with Jim Dalton and Greg Dalton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hensley Family Cemetery at Crawley Creek.

Pallbearers will be Derek Bryant, Joseph Bryant, Justin Dingess, Mikie Dingess, Wesley Johnson, Steven Stollings, Andrew Bryant, Matthew Richards, and Austin Richards.

The family will receive friends from 6-10 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
