It was the first loss of the season for the Billies, which dropped to 4-1.
Jordan Simpson was the starting pitcher for Man. He went four innings and allowed five runs (four earned) and eight hits while striking out two and walking none. Drew Merritt and Travis Hurley pitched in relief.
Matt Geiger notched the win on the mound for Huntington. John Paul Williams got the save.
Simpson, Steven Craddock, Hurley, Tyler Grimmett and Ryan Crum had one hit each for Man. Grimmett and Duke Vance had one RBI apiece.
Huntington (5-1) was led by Ben Haer, who was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Trace Dempsey and Joe Garton each had two hits.
Man was scheduled to play at Belfry, Ky., on Saturday. The Billies are off for Spring Break until April 12 when Man hosts Mount View. SOFTBALL Logan 12, Nicholas County 1
SUMMERSVILLE – The Class AAA No. 2-ranked Logan High School softball team remained perfect with Friday’s 12-1 win at Nicholas County.
Logan (5-0) was led by Summer Neace and Lara Sedlock, who each went 3-for-3 to pace the Lady Cats’ 16-hit attack.
The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Neace pitched all five innings and allowed three hits.
The Lady Cats were slated to play at Hurricane on Saturday. Logan hosts Capital on Wednesday and then hosts Hurricane on Thursday.
