Timothy Joseph Crum, 33, of Logan, was arrested by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Hensley for six counts of grand larceny, four breaking and enterings and one burglary charge on April 5.
According to the first of several criminal complaints, from March 2 to March 16 the Wilkinson Department of Highways was missing $2,290.76 worth of gasoline and a supervisor there "suspected it was former employee Timothy Crum" responsible for the missing fuel.
"On March 31, Timothy Crum admitted to taking gasoline from the DOH during an audio recorded statement,” the report said.
A second criminal complaint states that on Feb. 16, Crum allegedly "did break and enter the bar known as the Back Room and took an ATM machine worth $2,200 which contained approximately $2,180 in U.S. currency."
"A witness saw Timothy Crum dumping an object using a loader at the Chapmanville DOH, in the same spot where the ATM machine was found, and it was on the same day that the ATM machine was found and it was on the same day that the ATM machine was taken," that report states. "The witnesses stated that Timothy had no reason to be at the Chapmanville DOH because he was on family leave. On April 5, Timothy Crum admitted to the offense during an audio recorded statement."
A third complaint states that on March 24, Crum allegedly "did burglarize the home of Kenneth Zigmond of Mitchell Heights." "Timothy Crum admitted to the offense on March 31 during an audio recorded statement."
A fourth complaint states that between March 15-March 22, Crum allegedly "broke into the department of Highways in Chapmanville and Wilkinson, where the defendant stole approximately $7,929.42 worth of items from the DOH."
Crum reportedly admitted to the offense in a recorded statement.
A fifth complaint states Trooper P.J. Dick received a complaint from a victim about a building that was broken into where $1,222 in goods were stolen. "In an audio statement Crum admitted into breaking into the outbuilding," that report states.
He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 11:45 a.m. on $100,000 bond.
Crum was not the only alleged burglar arrested recently.
In other arrest reports:
• Rodney Elmer Frye, 32, of Man, was arrested in Logan County by Patrolman D.J. Miller of the Chapmanville Police Department for grand larceny on April 8.
According to police reports, the officer was dispatched by 911 about a stolen car.
The victim and his wife said they were in their home when the wife heard tires spinning outside and looked out the window and saw the family car fleeing from their home.
Information about the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Computer noting it was then allegedly driven to North Carolina by Frye. It was located in Beckley, the report states, after Frye had reportedly abandoned it.
At one point, Frye was pulled over by another law enforcement officer who did not know the vehicle was stolen.
He was booked at the regional jail at 11:19 p.m.
• Timothy Eugene Hackney, 29, of Switzer, was arrested in Logan County by Deputy B.E. Ferrell of the Logan County Sherriff's Department for grand larceny, daytime burglary, destruction of property and transferring and receiving stolen property on April 1.
According to reports on Dec. 2, 2009, Hackney allegedly burglarized a home in Stollings, damaging the door of the residence in the process of breaking in.
"Once inside, the defendant stole a 42 inch Panasonic plasma television, valued at approximately $2,000," which he later sold at a pawnshop for $175. The report states that Hackney attempted to sell the TV to other individuals first and admitted to one of them he had stolen the TV and would buy it back or replace it.
"However, Mr. Hackney now denies stealing the TV," the report states, adding it cost $400 to repair the door.
He was booked at the regional jail at 6:45 p.m.
