Vamp Camp is open to students of all area schools, currently enrolled in grades four through eight. During Vamp Camp students will engage in a variety of fiction writing studies, themed around vampire stories. At the end of the week students will create an original vampire or horror fiction through studies of character, setting, plot, voice and word choice.
Vamp Camp will also feature daily technology experiences. Students will create original digital comic strips & graphic novels using www.bitstripsforschool.com
Vamp Camp will be held June 21 through 25 from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. daily at Chapmanville Middle School. Enrollment fee is $30 and a limited number of tuition waivers are available. Breakfast and lunch will be available to all students through the summer feeding program.
Vamp Camp will be facilitated by a team of National Writing Project teacher consultants, who have received extensive local, state, and national training in providing youth writing programs. Vamp Camp is directed by Jason Browning, Linda McKnight, Bob Miller and Pam Roeher. Guest teachers during camp will include: Macel Adams, Sharron McLemore, Peggie Hensley, Karen Dillon, Courtney Morgan Pritchard, and Debra Holly.
