MUD FORK — The Appalachian Children’s Chorus (ACC) will present a free concert at the Savas-Kostas Theater at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (SWVCTC) on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m. The event is being sponsored by SWVCTC, and this is the first production for the college’s Harmony Series.

The concert features ACC’s Cantare, Concert and Camerata choirs.

ACC is excited to showcase the Cantare choir, now in its second season, headquartered in Logan County. Jean Ray and the Logan County Charitable and Educational Foundation helped to make this choir possible. Upcoming audition dates and information about the Cantare choir will be announced during the concert.

“We are so excited to have expanded into Logan County and to have the opportunity to perform there,” said ACC Founding and Artistic Director Selina Midkiff. “This is going to be an amazing show. The children have worked very hard and I am so proud of them,” added Cantare director, Krista Brown.

ACC has been named the Official Children’s Chorus and Ambassadors of Music for West Virginia. There are approximately 200 children in seven ACC choirs, and the organization is thrilled about its expansion into Logan County. Our mission is to develop artistic excellence, quality music education and extraordinary opportunities for West Virginia youth. However, the program is so much more than notes on a page. The music opens the door for a child to have a bright future.
