He brings outstanding experience from a variety of hospitals and communities that will be beneficial in his new role here.”
Walker has a proven record in improving quality, enhancing patient satisfaction, fostering strong physician relations, and building ties to the communities in which he serves. An experienced healthcare leader, he is skilled in all areas of executive management including operations, project management, business development, strategic planning, and board relations.
“John comes with the experience that will help to lead the hospital forward,” said Robert Klein, President of LifePoint Hospitals’ United Division of which LRMC is a part. “He has exceptional skills that will be recognized and appreciated by the physicians, associates, and volunteers as well as the greater community. He has a very high commitment to quality, is community-minded, and has a track record of working well with physicians and employees.”
He has served since January of 2006 as Chief Executive Officer of Western Plains Medical Complex, a 99-bed facility in Dodge City, Kansas which is also affiliated with LifePoint Hospitals.
While there, Walker launched numerous new services, including interventional cardiology with construction of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Under his leadership, the hospital was recognized for its high patient satisfaction scores and quality improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining LifePoint, Walker served for approximately five years as Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital of Jefferson, a 138-bed facility in Metairie, Louisiana. He has also been CEO of Riverside Medical Center, a 60-bed hospital in Franklinton, La., and Executive Director of Enid Regional Hospital, a 109-bed facility in Enid, Okla.
Walker earned a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS, and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of North Texas in Denton. He has earned Fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

I look forward to working with physicians, hospital staff and members of the community.”
