Roger William Lamb, 35, residence not listed, will be arraigned in court in Hamlin today on robbery charges. Lamb was arrested Thursday in Logan County on charges in Hamlin and is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden on $150,000 bond. He was booked at 2:05 p.m. on May 20.
According to the State Police, Lamb was supposed to give himself up on Wednesday, but pulled a no-show.
“We made arrangements at the Logan detachment with the Hamlin detachment for him to turn himself in, but he had not done that, and we got a tip he would be in a vehicle going to Hamlin and intercepted him. He was arrested without incident,” Sgt. Brian Brown of the WVSP Logan Detachment said this morning.
The investigation into the Harts Pharmacy robbery involved different police agencies in different counties, including Logan County.
Lamb and his unnamed codefendant allegedly stole a city of Logan Water Department truck which was used in the daring daylight robbery attempt at the pharmacy.
It is believed the robbers stole the water truck from the city of Logan to use as a getaway vehicle.
According to reports, two males attempted to rob the Harts Pharmacy at gunpoint around 9:15 a.m. on April 1. An employee at the Pharmacy drew a .357 magnum and shot one of the suspects, who then fled in the truck.
The thieves reportedly left the truck behind and fled on foot.
The stolen water truck was recovered in the Harts area, where it had been abandoned.
Blood was found on the seat of the getaway vehicle. Samples of the blood were taken and may be submitted to the West Virginia State Police Crime Lab to see if a match can be made from the database on file.
Security footage showed one of the robbers being struck in the head, according to Tpr. S.L. Bartram who was unavailable for comment.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the West Virginia State Police at 304-824-3101 or 304-792-7200. Information about the stolen truck can be relayed to the WVSP or to the Logan Police Department at 304-752-6535.
