“I’ll do it,” Ruby Moore said when Town Attorney Dan Dahill swore her in.
Mayor Darren Akers had some good news for the town - West Logan’s finances are looking good.
“We are getting back up there with recent payments of Business and Occupation taxes,” Akers said.
“We had a good month,” councilmember Kristi Adkins said, explaining, “it was the end of the quarter.’
One local business is still a bit late on payments but others had come through, and paid up, Akers said. “We have a loss throughout the year of $3,200, even though we bought a truck this winter.”
Adkins said the fiscal year ends in June and a payment is due to Brickstreet of $1,800 and $700 for a legal ad.
Police Chief Robert Ward discussed the safety report, noting all city buildings were inspected and okay. Ward said the towns’ police car needed to repairs and Stollings Auto Body came in with the lowest cost for repairs and did the work for $414.
• One resident discussed problems with a dangerous, dilapidated building near his house. The man actually owns four fifths of the structure and said it is falling apart and has become a hazard.
Chief Robert Ward agreed, saying “It’s completely uninhabitable.”
Mayor Darren Akers gave Ward permission to write a letter saying the house was dilapidated and was a safety hazard and to give it to the Logan County Commission.
