2010 Man High School Honor Graduates

MAN — Man High School will be recognizing top 2010 honor graduates during their graduation ceremony to be held Friday, May 28, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

Valedictorians

Emily Browning

Emily Browning will graduate as Valedictorian with a 4.12 GPA. The daughter of Sammy and Jeana Browning of Mallory, she is planning to attend Marshall University and majoring in Communication Disorders. Emily’s academic achievements include the Promise Scholarship, the McCaine Scholarship, and the Ferrell Family Scholarship. Emily was recognized at the WSAZ Best of the Class. While in high school, Emily served as Senior Class President, Beta Club vice president, Honor Society president, vice president of Student Council, yearbook staff member, Attendance Committee member, Float Committee member and Prom Committee member. She was elected Senior Homecoming Attendant.

Leah Grimmett

Leah Grimmett will graduate as Valedictorian with a 4.14 GPA. The daughter of Jackie and Sherri Grimmett of Christian, she is planning on attending Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and pursuing a degree in Nursing. Leah’s academic achievements include the Promise Scholarship, the American Red Cross Scholarship, the Kody Faine Scholarship, the McCaine Scholarship, and the WVU Undergraduate Scholarship. She also received the Robert C. Byrd Special Academic Recognition Award. Leah was recognized at the WSAZ Best of the Class. While in high school, Leah served as president of the Student Council, vice president of the Honor Society and Senior Class, Prom Committee member, Float Committee member, Attendance Committee member, W.Va. Page for the Senate and yearbook staff. She received numerous awards including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Phy-sics, Geometry, Trigono-metry, AP English, AP Government, Honors History and French. Leah has been honored with the Top of the Mountain recognition a-warded by Governor Joe Manchin III for ranking in the upper 10 percent of W.Va. graduating seniors based on ACT composite scores.

Andrew Lusk

Andrew Lusk will graduate as Valedictorian with a 4.12 GPA. The son of Brian and Amy Lusk of Mallory, he is planning on attending Marshall University and pursuing a degree in Chemistry leading to his goal of becoming a Doctor of Dentistry. Brian’s academic awards include the Promise Scholarship and the McCoy Dental Scholarship. While in high school, Andrew served as Senior Class Attendance Officer. He was also a W.Va. Page for the Senate, attended Model UN, and was a member of the Honor Society, Beta Club, Attendance Committee, yearbook staff, Prom Committee and Float Committee. He was a member of the National Academic Games League, where his team placed second at the National Competition. And-rew was a member of the basketball team for all four years and “Flag Guy” for the school. Andrew has been honored with the Top of the Mountain recognition a-warded by Governor Joe Manchin III for ranking in the upper 10 percent of W.Va. graduating seniors based on ACT composite scores.

Salutatorian

Meredith Smith

Meredith Smith will graduate as Salutatorian with a 3.96 GPA. The daughter of Theresa and Barry Sexton of South Man and Christopher Smith of Shady Springs, she is planning on attending Concord University and pursuing a degree in Education. Meredith’s academic awards include the Promise Scholarship and the Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship. While in high school, she served as Beta Club Historian, Honor Society secretary, yearbook staff member, Float Committee member and Prom Committee member.

Historian

Aaron Parsons

Aaron Parsons will graduate as Historian with a 3.944 GPA. The son of Paul Parsons of Logan and Jennifer Cline of Man, he is planning on attending Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and pursuing a degree in Education. Aaron's awards include the Promise Scholarship. While in high school, he served as president of the Beta Club, member of the Honor Society, member of Student Council, and a member of the Float Committee. Also, Aaron was an active member of the Man High School Relay for Life. Aaron has been honored with the Top of the Mountain recognition awarded by Governor Joe Manchin III for ranking in the upper 10 percent of W.Va. graduating seniors based on ACT composite scores.
