The Lady Tigers advanced to the championship round with a win over No. 1-ranked Ritchie County on Wednesday, then lost to Ritchie in the first game of the state championship round.
The tournament is double-elimination and Chapmanville had to be beaten twice, while the Lady Tigers needed to only beat Ritchie once to win the title.
Chapmanville fell 4-0 in the first game of the championship round, but rallied to win the second game, 3-1.
The repeat is the first time in Chapmanville school history that a team has won back-to-back state championships.
In the Class AAA state championship game, Logan fell to No. 1-ranked St. Albans, 1-0.
Logan advanced to the tournament championship round by beating Jefferson Thursday morning, 8-1, after losing to St. Albans in the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday.
The title win is the first in softball for St. Albans.
The Man Lady Billies lost in their bid to three-peat as Class A state champs as they were surprised by South Harrison, 8-7, in eight innings in the title game.
Man lost on Wednesday to St. Marys, but avenged its loss by beating St. Marys early Thursday morning, 5-1.
Man then pounded South Harrison 6-0 in the first game of the championship round, but lost in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The state championship is the first in school history in any sport for South Harrison.
The games were played Wednesday and Thursday Jackson Memorial Park in Vienna, which is a sister city to Parkersburg.
