On November 17, 2009, the Webelos Scouts of Pack 28, Chapmanville visited Mine Lifeline in Chapmanville. The Scouts were taken on a tour of the facility by operator Jeremy Abraham and Tony “Psycho” Robison. The Scouts were given demonstrations on the safety equipment that is produced and distributed by Mine Lifeline. Specifically, Abraham and Robison demonstrated the mine “lifeline” which helps aid miners to escape a mine in the event of a fire; they were also shown the mining rescuers that miners wear and the breathing apparatuses that the mine rescue teams wear when conducting mining rescues. The Scouts were also shown a 3-D video of how mining safety chambers operate. Following the tour, Abraham and Mr. Robison treated the Scouts to cake and ice cream and gave the Scouts complimentary t-shirts. Webelos Scouts of Pack 28, Chapmanville, is led by Rob Kuenzel and Patty Bryant. If you have a child that is interested in Scouting, contact local Scout Executive Billy Bryant at 304-687-0476.
