Arnold was born November 20, 1934, in Curry, and is now with all that have passed before him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie and Lula Barker; sister Juanita Garrett; brother, Ralph Barker; daughter, Deanna Barker, and grandson, Matthew Potter.
Arnold was a man of many interests. He was a 1954 graduate of Chapmanville High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and before leaving for the U.S. Army he married his beautiful wife Verdena Hainer. He worked for Town Talk Bakery and Royal Crown Bottling Company where he retired as a salesman. After retiring he enjoyed his automobiles, coin collecting, gardening and listening to the Gaither Gospel Music.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Verdena Hainer Barker; a daughter, Susan and husband David Pinson of Hurricane; daughter, Melissa Quintrell of Florida; grandchildren, Justin Potter, James Quintrell, Joshua Quintrell, and Ashley Quintrell and one great-grandson Jakob Matthew Potter. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
A celebration of Arnold’s life will be held Friday, June 11, at the Casdorph and Curry Funeral Home at St. Albans. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park in the Garden of Gethsemane.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Thomas Hospital and Hubbard Hospice House for their wonderful kindness and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Arnold Barker’s name to Hospice Care or Hubbard Hospice House.
